The beginning

The air was boiling. That was the only way Eliot could describe it looking at the meteorological data. An eyeball outside showed nothing wrong but the sun was still coming through the dome and that sometimes made things harder. The experts disagreed but everybody agreed that the dome distorted things. It also made the weather controls difficult.
“Boss come take a look at this data. “ Nadia strutted over and put her hands on the back of his chair. She was always uncomfortably close. If she was ugly Eliot might have been able to ignore her but she passed the line from cute into exotic and he had to remind himself that she wasn’t his type. It was getting harder every day and his husband was starting to get suspicious.
“ That’s within the parameters. You’re worrying to much over nothing.”
“Could you sign off on that?” Why couldn’t she just accept someone else’s opinion? There’s no way she was that good and when she failed he was sure no one would miss her. She put her mark down though so there was that.
Eliot continued to monitor the weather pattern as Nadia walked to the next station, micromanaging her way down the line. The phenomenon in the upper atmosphere continued to grow but it seemed to be moving. “ There’s no way this is natural. I thought we were the only ones who could dictate the weather? Bet if I bring it to her again she’ll just dismiss it.” Nadia said it was nothing so it was nothing. It was his break anyway and of course nothing happens on a break.
